questions people have asked me

What inspired you to make the game?

I tend to only make art and creative projects for people close to me and myself. So initially this game was a meme birthday present for a friend (who we've made some games together). The game has many references that only a select people even would understand. Even the game name is a reference. My friend then told me to just make it a real thing and so I did.

Why a point and click?

The game contains a lot of references and inspiration to games I love and my game of the year of 2022 was Castle Full Of Cats by devcats. Of course, I think I made it my own and different enough.

How long did it take you to make the game?

It took me under a year. I started in January 2023 and worked on it on and off till a giftable present version in April. I then slowly added more stuff towards the Halloween 31st of October 2023 release. The release date was also a reference to my friend haha.

Why black cats?

I'm owned by two black cats named Tomo & Nero. They did all the voice acting in the game. They're also in the game and why the ending has something that references them.

Are they cats? What's the deal with the other things?

I do a lot of monster design and my next game is gonna be a cute creature based game. I made Meowing Point a bit of a precursor to that, adding some creatures as a teaser. So the answer is simultaneously yes and no, the cats are a cat like monster I drew years ago with a different nose.

How many cats are there?

I tend to forget and I am still adding some. Initially I was aiming for 666 but it totals less than that. With a new expansion it will probably be over 1000.

What's the significance of the blue house?

Without trying to dox myself - All the locations in the game are based on my home town of Adelaide, Australia. The blue house is an amalgamation of few different places & references.

Are you upset by reviews and the lack of success?

First of all, rude. But not really, people are free to say whatever as long as not personally attacking me. I had it coming karma wise as I like niche stuff (like hidden object games) and I'm also a disliker of many things popular; even the best things in life have people who won't like it.

I tend to make things for fun and as gifts, not for profit. It might be a weird thing to say but; if I wanted to make money, I wouldn't have made this game in the first place haha.

What's Next

A monster game inspired by Hamtaro: Ham-Ham Heartbreak. I work full time (not as a game dev) so it will take a really long time, and would really only post teasers when it's ready.

I'm also working on expanding and cleaning up Meowing Point. The new section I'm working on basically doubles the game. For those who live in Adelaide the next section is an amalgamation of Marion, other malls, & the Central Market. Again, I may be slow but watch me go.
